Cregis, a provider of enterprise digital asset payment and custody infrastructure, has entered the U.S. market with the establishment of an office in Brooklyn, New York. The move extends the company’s international operations as it builds relationships with U.S. financial institutions, payment service providers and broader fintech businesses.
Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Hong Kong, Cregis provides enterprise infrastructure for digital asset wallets, payments, fund flows and asset governance. The company serves more than 4,000 businesses across over 50 countries and regions, with cumulative transaction volume exceeding $300 billion.
“The U.S. is an important step for Cregis, but entering a market is only the beginning,” said Shawn Yan, Founder and CEO of Cregis. “Our experience in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East has shown us that businesses need infrastructure that fits their existing operations. They shouldn’t have to build an entirely separate function to manage digital assets. We want to bring that experience to the U.S. and work with businesses as they develop their digital asset capabilities.”
The expansion comes as stablecoins gain a larger role in financial services, though business adoption remains uneven. The Federal Reserve reported that the stablecoin market reached approximately $317 billion in capitalization in April 2026, up more than 50% from early 2025. Yet a September 2026 Cleveland Fed report found that only eight of 148 surveyed businesses in its district were using or planning to use stablecoins. Respondents cited limited demand and satisfaction with existing payment methods among the reasons for holding back. The findings suggest that market growth alone does not guarantee adoption. Businesses must also consider how digital assets fit into existing payment processes and operational controls.
Cregis’ U.S. expansion builds on its experience across Asia-Pacific and other international markets. In 2024, the company established Dubai as its Middle East hub. Over the following two years, it developed a base of approximately 200 long-term enterprise clients with active deployments in the region. More than half came from foreign exchange and other traditional financial businesses, reflecting demand beyond crypto-native companies.
Cregis serves financial institutions, payment service providers, fintech companies, digital banks, foreign exchange brokers and Web3 businesses. Its platform brings together three core capabilities: Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS), fund flow orchestration and custody infrastructure. Its MPC-based wallet technology supports transaction authorization and access controls, while its Payment Engine enables digital asset collections, payouts and settlement. Governance features, including approval workflows and audit trails, help businesses maintain oversight of asset operations.
The company holds a Hong Kong Trust or Company Service Provider (TCSP) licence and is registered with the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Its security framework is supported by SOC 2 Type I, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications.
The New York office establishes a local base for Cregis to engage with U.S. businesses and partners. The company also made its U.S. exhibition debut at Money20/20 USA 2026 in Las Vegas, held October 18–21.
“Building financial infrastructure takes more than getting the technology right,” Yan said. “It has to work within the systems, controls and responsibilities that businesses already have. As digital assets become part of more financial operations, our focus is on making them easier to manage and integrate. That is a long-term effort, and one we intend to pursue market by market.”
